Stolen from Tyrell Court in Carshalton, Surrey on the 3rd of June 2010 between the hours of 7am and 3pm. The car is navy blue in colour & is a convertible with blue hood. It also has a wide silver stripe along the top of the bonnet and boot (drivers side), and had chrome Weller wheels.

Any information e-mail me at: jim@stolenclassics.co.uk

Not much panel damage, but some quite bad mechanical damage, mostly prop and diff.

I'm so glad that Dave got his Triumph back.
Thank you to all the members of OldSkoolFord that helped to secure it's safe return. :D

Nashy... As Fred has said, the bodywork of the car was o.k, but unfortunately it's been caned to within an inch of it's life. The engine is running rough & the clutch, gearbox, prop and diff are all buggered. The theives also thought it would be a good idea to rip a speaker out of one of the rear interior side panels, ripping it in the process. We found the speaker in the boot

The recovery of this vehicle was made possible because a few members of www.oldskoolford.co.uk had spotted the car and then rang a few people up. If this car had never been posted on the net, it wouldn't have been found.

I hope, with the help of all vehicle forums out there on the internet, more vehicles can be reunited with their owners just like this one was. :)

I've already put a link onto OldSkoolFord for this site & also suggested that the club i'm on the committie of (Glamorgan Classic Car Club) put up a link on our own website (it's all up to the chairman now) !!!
I know that there is also a link on BuySellCortina as well !!!
But as said the more people who are looking the better !!!
I'm going to put up a link to this website on my facebook status but it might be a good idea to start a facebook group up (if there isnt one already) like the stolen oldskoolfords one !!!
It will raise awareness of the site and hopefully send the message out to thieves that Classic Car owners won't stand for it !!!
Did the ba**ards get caught or was it just found with nobody with it ??? (If answering this causes a problem for the owner or any investigation going on, i'll understand if you dont answer) !!!

Hi Nashy,

I forgot to reply to this  Since I read your post, I've created a Stolen Classics Facebook group which now has 116 members :) I'm also cross posting the vehicles from here to there.

Thanks for posting links to the site

BTW, regarding the Triumph...

As far as I know no-one has been caught, but they could've been... five of them. When I went over to look after the car, I was told it was a non runner, so I decided to wait with it untill either my mate (owner) or some chaps from a local firm could help me tow it.

The Police had told me if anything was to happen I should call them straight away. Anyway, two hours into my babysitting shift, three blokes walked by the front of my car, all having a good look at me. They then went over to the Triumph and one of them had the door open whilst half inside doing something.

I got straight onto the phone to the Police who told me to sit tight and under no circumstances was I to go over and confront them. While on the phone, the 3 blokes just disappeared. A few minutes later, 2 more blokes walked past my car, again having a good look, then walked over to the Triumph and then... just disappeared.

I managed to get hold of my mate and told him what happened, and he managed to get a couple of people that he knows to come over and help me tow it.

While we were pushing the car out of the space, I noticed something move in some bushes... it was the five geezers. They were obviously sitting there waiting for me to disappear before they stole the car... again. They decided to get up and mooch off when we were hooking up the tow rope.

Anyway, did the Police turn up? Erm, no, and the car wasn't even on the Police database as stolen. The reason for this would be the Policeman my mate spoke to when he reported the car stolen. The Policeman tried telling him that he had got the numberplate round the wrong way, and he didn't even know what the car was

So the upshot is, there was a Triumph driving around the area for at least two days prior to it being found, it was found parked up on an industrial estate with only one way in and out and protected by CCTV, and wasn't stopped by Police because it wasn't on the stolen cars database... oh and when people like you and me try to do their job for them, they can't even turn up on time to nick 5 collars

I would have tried to take photos of them on my camera phone (or even better, a video) !!!
That way you don't have to go over to them !!!
The police just don't care sometimes...it seems to depend on how busy they are & what mood they are in at the time !!! Don't get me wrong though, there are some very good & very helpful police officers our there...it's just the bad ones people remember more often !!!
